Rules of RP Empty
PostSubject: Rules of RP   Rules of RP I_icon_minitimeSun Aug 01, 2010 5:46 pm

This is long. But bear with it and read it ALL the way through.

If everyone complies with these rules, we will have a fun time.

General Rules:

There is to be no FFA, laming (including annoying players) or retaliatory acts.
Excessive use of offensive language is forbidden (stick to more 'traditional' Star wars insults such as 'bantha poodoo' or 'sithspit').

Explicit sexual actions and/or chat should be kept to whispers, although it is preferable these forms of RP are scarce.

Any form of metagaming or powergaming is strictly forbidden (including UNLAWFUL controlling of other characters).

OOC speech must be marked visibly at any given time e.g. through the use of brackets: [Hey everyone, how are you all doing?]

All Roleplay actions must be emoted, be it through a change in the colour of your typing, or symbols such as '-' or '*' e.g. -takes a training hilt out of the cargo box-

Use common sense and realism in your Roleplay, e.g. a Sith wouldn't lead a one-man assault against the entire Jedi temple.

You may not use the last or full name of any character found in the Star Wars movies or EU (Expanded Universe) to an extent e.g. using the first name Luke, a common name, is somewhat acceptable, however, using Obi-Wan or Bail is not acceptable.

At any one time, you can only have one character who is a Jedi, Sith or Neutral faction.

For every one month of real-time, a year passes in the Roleplay.

The voiding of any event within a Roleplay cannot occur unless RIGHT after the incident has happened, and ALL participants involved agree. You cannot void events hours or days later. Exceptions can only be made if all admins review the issue and deem it appropriate to void.

In-game fighting using the game's engine is the DEFAULT system of combat (MB2 RC1) and text-Roleplay battles may only occur if all members in a given scene agree to it (otherwise game-engine combat WILL be used). This does not give any person the right to leave a scene if they are not able to battle with text alone, and will result in a warning and/or permanent death to the character.

Role and Use of your Character:

You must ensure you abide by the role of your character at all times, be it a maddened Sith Marauder who has an affinity for duelling, a calm and focused Jedi Master or a random Ewok.

At any given time, all players must have a role in the server, and if their main character(s) cannot feasibly Roleplay in a situation, then use a suitable NPC character. An example of this is if a Sith Lord enters a bustling Jedi server, and can instead choose to Roleplay as a random gardener/civilian etc. As stated in the general rules, think logically and ensure you adapt yourself to either enrich a situation or avoid disruption.

It must also be stressed that you cannot barge into EVERY scene you are in, regardless of your role. That is, if 10 Masters are present and a Bounty Hunter assaults the temple, not all 10 Masters would rush to the scene and simultaneously Roleplay thwarting him. They would communicate with one another via any means, organise closing off escape routes and ensure the immediate protection of all other individuals, alongside continuing to train others if no immediate threat is present to them.

However, if you wish to remain OOC, then you must remain in spectate and not spam any OOC text. Alongside this, if a character is currently away on a mission or captured , then they cannot enter any other scene apart from their captor's domain or the mission area.

If your character is under disguise (e.g. masquerading as a 322nd Marine), then you must include [D] in your name, for example: [322nd] Private Randoomi [D].
If you are using a technique to conceal your presence/aura to other beings within the immediate area, then the tag [CA] must be included in your character name, for example: Sith Lord Randa [CA].

Once a character reaches Padawan-level , they cannot be promoted to Knight-level or use Knight-level stats until having been at Padawan-level for a minimum of 2 weeks.

Weapons and Combat:
During force-sensitive battles, force abilities shouldn't be unreasonably spammed (see rule for 'spamming' below), and excessive jumping around is frowned upon. 'Ganging' is also allowed if the situation calls for it.
Admins/moderators are allowed to spectate duelists.
Remember, all duels are meant to be fun, and whilst healthy competition is certainly good, attempting to use any exploit is not acceptable.

As an extension to the above, the following exploits are also not allowed and will be voided:

Striking an opponent more than once on the ground.
Unreasonable height deaths.
You can not force push whilst on the ground to negate any potential assault.
Attacking a victim if they are force pushed from a knockback (known as Kickpush), you must instead remain on the spot and treat the downtime as Roleplay responses/respite and only attack once they get back up.
You can use Force Grip to kill an opponent, but you cannot use it in junction with lightsaber throw.
The spamming of kicks.
Whilst not voided as a whole, you may only use Force Levitate/Grip/Manipulate and then attack the opponent AFTER they land ONCE in any given duel.
Intentional 'angling' is disallowed, that is, you cannot look straight at the ground whilst attacking or noticably and deliberately looking far away from an opponent when attacking.

Havens and Bases of Operations:

All factions are required to have a rudimentary base of operations at the very least, be it a small hideout in a map or the entirety of a given map.
All base of operations must also be specified in a post within the Faction's forum.
If the base of operations has features which are not clear in the map, they must be stated in the Base of Operations post e.g. if any specific gates are locked and require access codes (provide images also).
Use common sense here; the door isn't going to be wide open if it's a Mandalorian base.

Death Rules:

It must first be stated that whenever a player dies, NPC or not, they MUST return to their spot of death before resuming any Roleplay or conflict.
Player characters have a total of 1/2/4 deaths based on their standing, with each death leading to increasingly detrimental effects.
Non-Player characters (NPCs) have a total of 1 death unless stated otherwise e.g. An important NPC character may have more (These would only exist during events) and none of their kills count towards any deaths of a player character, however, they can injure and capture players.

For ALL player-made characters:

Initiate-level and NPCs:
First Death: The character is badly injured, captured, incapacitated or killed.

Padawan-level and Non-Force Sensitive:
First Death: The character is disarmed, possibly receiving a minor wound e.g. a cut or a sprained ankle, the character should think the next move over carefully.
Second Death: The character is badly injured, captured, incapacitated or killed.

Knight-level and beyond:
First Death: The character is disarmed or suffers a slight setback e.g. a kick to send them over.
Second Death: The character receives a minor wound e.g. a cut to the leg of a twisted ankle, they will be slightly shaken and possibly anxious.
Third Death: The character receives a major wound e.g. a deeper cut or gash or a badly damaged limb, the character should now think of their next move, as it may cost them their life.
Fourth Death: The character is badly injured, captured, incapacitated or killed.

Escaping:

In order to escape a situation you will need to examine it realistically; is it possible for you escape? If you are surrounded by 15 opponents in a room with one exit this is highly unlikely and escape here would be impossible and should not be attempted.

In the event that the situation can be escaped from you are to retreat to a valid escape point and then RP it, you must not RP your escape before you are at this point e.g. Running outside to the mountains and then RP'ing jumping over them would be correct.

However, your opponent/s can stop you, they are permitted to RP blocking you or hindering you just as you are allowed to RP escaping, they will also be pursuing you, should they kill you before you reach your point then the death counts and will be treated as such.

If a situation cannot be resolved then a staff member should be informed immediately to deal with it.

If a character is captured on their final death they will be out-of-action e.g. recovering from their wounds for a set period of 5 OOC days, they cannot escape during this time, nor can they aid in their own freedom or the freedom or others, they can be killed at any time during the 5-day-process.

That is all for now.
